We have commissioned on DWDM network system to automatically switch DWDM channels to the backup route. This is very important news, as it will certainly come in handy in case of damage to the primary path.
Trial operation of the backup system 100 Gbit/c channel at the station Kyiv – Kharkiv has showed the successful functionality of the embedded protection mechanism DWDM network.
So, in the case of damage to the cable on the primary route, the control system DWDM network automatically has redirected and switched 100G channel from the main route to the backup. At the same time, using the same transponders on end-points, it was minimizing downtime for users. The switching time is 15 MS.
